It has been rough for the pass few weeks. Look at the monitoring chart.
For people like me that wired to the net 24 x 7, having such interruptions were such a torture.
I am looking at alternative links now – at least more seriously. The wireless network Webbit was a joke (I’ll cover it more later). The 3G network is potential, but I am not so keen to jump into it now after my Webbit experience. That left me back to the old school 56k modem (can only establish at 36k or 28k most of the time) and a dialup.
I don’t know there is a Apache built for MS-DOS? Or the Apache version running on Windows reports itself as MS-DOS?
I don’t remember any Apache 1.3 has got out from beta in the Windows environment too.
She is 2 years old now, time really flies.

One of my support call.
Customer: I have problem to setup my email account.
Me: What is the problem sir?
Customer: I need to know what is my POP3 server.
Me: It is pop.yourisp.com sir.
Customer: How about my SMTP server?
Me: It is smtp.yourisp.com sir.
Customer: Ah, that’s what I’ve been looking for. But it keeps asking for password when I click send and receive.
Me: Your password could be wrong.
Customer: What is my password?

My Streamyx (broadband service provided by TMNet) was down for 2 full days, starting from 12 pm Sunday till Tuesday 12:50 pm.
I have to dust off my modem to get connected, and suffered from the modem low connection speed. Although I’ve still managed to get most of the things done via the 56 kbps modem connection, I have to think twice on almost every actions before I hit the Enter key.
As soon I’ve done with works, I grabbed some magazines and thrown myself into the couch, and managed to chew a DVD too – that was something I haven’t been able to do for many months.
The net is getting more important these days. Take the TV away from me, I don’t care. Leave my connection alone – that is my work, my entertainment, my news sources, my playground and probably my only hope to conquer the world.
If you still remember my “Failing Gadgets” episodes, the Canon A70 that I own now officially listed in the Canon announcement: “Image Phenomena Due to CCD Malfunction“.
So, Canon swift respond to my problem, and offering a good deal for upgrade wasn’t genuine? They should have repair my unit for free instead!
Anyway, if I’ve been ask for the options of free repair or paid upgrade, I’ll probably take the upgrade still.
