Microsoft breaks Adium (and pidgin)
My Adium universal IM client stuck at “unable to retrieve msn address book” error today.
A little search turn out that “Microsoft’s servers have stopped accepting logins from clients that use version 15 of the protocol [ link ]“, which is newer version of their IM protocol.
Strange right?
Why they suddenly downgraded their protocol? Also, it seem their original MSN client wasn’t effected – so they either has already planned for the downgrade long ago, or they have fail-over protocol ready in their own client.
Weird.
I am switching back to Adium 1.3.2 now.
